IMMUNE BOOSTING JUICE
Keeping your immune system strong all year long can seem challenging especially as the dark, cold winter months arrive! We tend to stay indoors, eat more, and exercise less! I talked a bit about juicing and the benefits/concerns a while back that you can read on my blog (www.littleurbanlife.com) I have a regiment for how I keep my immune system strong especially when I am sick that you can check out as well! One of the ways is this Immune Boosting Juice that I make (almost) every day for my husband and I!
Check it out below as well as I will explain the immune benefits of each ingredient!
- 2 carrots
- 1/2 beet
- 1/2- 1 whole lemon
- 1/2 cucumber
- 2 sticks celery
- 1/2 apple
- small piece of ginger
- 1 cup cranberries (the juice still tastes awesome without the cranberries
I just had a lot, so I was using in our juices the last month!)
1. One at a time place ingredients into juicer *
* Since my last post I have switched over to using a juicer, however I did use my Vitamix with a milk bag strainer for months!
2. Drink and enjoy!
How do these ingredients boost the immune system?
carrots help defend the body from free radical damage, harmful bacteria, viruses and inflammation.
beets contain beta carotene, vitamin C, carotenoids, sulphur, calcium, iron, manganese and potassium choline.
lemons are packed with lots of antioxidants and vitamin C
cucumbers keep you hydrated, flushes out toxins, and has vitamins A, B, and C
celery contains anti-microbial properties that fight infections, along with vitamins K, C, and B6, potassium and folate.
apples are extremely rich in important antioxidants (We alternate between green and red apples but red apples contain an antioxidant called quercetin. Recent studies have found that quercetin can help boost and strengthen your immune system)
cranberries are potent antioxidants such as flavonoids and vitamin C,
The ingredients above have many, many other benefits for you and your health. I just went over the ones that aid in your immune system! I love this juice and how tasty it is alongside of keeping my immune system strong. Thank you for following along and make sure to comment questions below!
